Weekly Update - Registration, Changes, and Updates
Feb 22 at 7:50 pm

We didn't realize in making our due dates that February 22nd was a Sunday (oops) so the postmark date can be today's date.

Please get in your registration forms by us today. For those of you that need us to cut you an invoice, please send us a copy of the paperwork that you have to fill out as soon as you can so that we don't have to assess you late fees. We know it takes a long time for your schools to cut checks, but now is the time we have to start paying for rentals, t-shirts, etc. and we want to have proof of payment so that we can make sure we have the items we need for the conference.

Please mail the Excel sheet for registration, we have to copy paste names and such.

We have cancelled the Oozeball event and added volleyball instead. We have also changed kickball to dodgeball due to logistic issues.

The mystery event rules will be released March 1st, so keep an eye out.

The Alexis Park Hotel reservation information is on the website. Please review the room types and make sure to give the code given on the website to get the quoted price. You will be required to provide a deposit, as is standard for all hotel reservations. Currently, there is a 5 room maximum that we didn't know about that we are trying to get lifted. We will keep you up to date. If you can, please reserve them in 5 block rooms for the moment, sorry for the inconvenience.

It still looks like we will have to have every member attending conference register and sign the waivers required by UNLV's Legal Deparment ©right; in person, so please be prepared to have everyone come to UNLV Wednesday night.

We will be sending out the Region's constitution for requested changes and comments soon, so please be sure to talk it over with your student chapter and make comments as necessary. We will finalize the changes to the constitution at the Business meeting on Saturday April 10th (of which, at least one member of every school is required to attend in order for their school to be officially recognized as attending the conference).

We will have the final schedule of events posted on March 1st. They won't change much from the last mailer, and we will post it on a separate page on the website to make it easier to find.

We also changed the location of the bridge and canoe aesthetics, to help with unloading and such. We will issue new directions on how you will be able to drop off your stuff as soon as we get that approved.

Our rules for the Engineering & Sporting Events have changed since the Mailer II. To see the latest rules, please consult our Event Documents page. Engineering Events and Sporting Events rules have been separated by event and the categories have been separated for easier visibility. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have arisen from using the Engineering & Sporting Event rules from Mailer II.

Thanks for sticking in there! We really appreciate all the help and feedback. ONLY 45 DAYS TO GO!

Weekly Update - Registration, Changes, and Reminders
Feb 18 at 6:40 pm

Reminder: the Excel sheet has been updated for Small-XXXL shirts; furthermore, there is also the option of buying "banquet only" tickets for your guests or alumni that can only make it to the banquet on Saturday.

It seems that we will indeed be moving forward with regular volleyball over the much anticipated and muddy oozeball. The rules for volleyball will be posted soon on the website.

It also looks like we will be changing the scavenger hunt to an "all–conference" version, which means you will have to collect items from around UNLV, and will not take place at the Lake as was previously planned. The final Schedule of Events will be posted to the website by March 1st. The schedule distributed in the most recent mailer is pretty close other than the exceptions made in this email.

We will be having a blood drive on our campus on Thursday, April 8 as a collaboration between the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. We will provide you with more information as we get closer to the conference.

Also, the UNLV Legal Team © has drafted a one-page waiver that each participant will have to sign when they register. We've tried to get them to let us distribute it before hand, but it has to be on special paper and has to be signed in front of us. This is why the registration time is very important. You will be expected to bring each of your school's participants to sign these waivers.

There are several updates to the FAQ, including questions on dietary restrictions and the registration deadlines. Please take a peek and don't be afraid to send us your questions to pswrc2010@gmail.com!

Our Attractions & Dining page will get even bigger, especially as the conference draws closer. Make sure to check it out; it's a taste of what Las Vegas has to offer. Also, pages on the Hoover Dam Bypass and Howard Hughes are now on the website.

And last, but not least, be sure to tell your guests and advisors that they are more than welcome to also reserve their hotel rooms at the Alexis Park! Thank you to those schools that were able to change their reservations to the Alexis Park! We realize how impossible this was for some schools but we really do appreciate it.

Weekly Update - Oozeball and More
Feb 08 at 7:43 pm

Due to unforeseen circumstances regarding facility reconstruction at UNLV, the oozeball competition might have to be cancelled. We recently found out about a new project that will take place in the intramural fields, the only location where oozeball is possible. In order to maintain the amount of events for the conference, our contingency plan calls for playing volleyball in a grassy field; luckily we have all of the green spaces reserved on campus for just such an occasion.

If we are denied access to the intramural fields, this will also involve moving the soccer event indoors to the Student Recreation and Wellness Center; the same venue for the basketball tournament on Saturday. Furthermore, kickball will be moved to Friday at Boulder Beach during the canoe races. We know this is quite the shake up, but believe us, we did not see this coming either. As far as team sizes go, the only expected change will be to the soccer event. According to indoor soccer rules, the team size will be limited to 6 players including the goalie. In response to other questions we have been fielding, substitutions to sporting event teams can be made during the half time break (if applicable) and between each round of playing if a team advances to the next round. We will keep you updated on the status of our events every opportunity that we have. Thank you for your understanding, and we can't wait to start competing in April! The PSWRC experience will remain as exciting as ever . . . with or without oozeball!

We are adding S and XXXL shirts to our sizes on the newest version of the registration packet which is in the newest version of the mailer posted to our website. In the event that the cost outweighs the convienience of having shirts in S and XXXL we will substitute medium size for small and XXL for XXXL to save on cost. We're on a tight budget this year!

Hotel Reservations are due in 27 days. Please reserve your hotel rooms now.

Remember to have your team's 20 photos ready to submit (on disc/thumb drive) when you check in on April 7th!
