Updates Check back often to get the latest updates! Jump to Page: 1 2 3 4 5 .. Weekly Update - Conference Week Apr 05 at 9:39 pm We have a Twitter account set up for the Concrete Canoe stuff! "2010PSWRCCanoe" Follow it from Wednesday, April 7 - Saturday, April 10 for the latest updates for the concrete canoe! We advise that at least one member from each school's canoe team follow this account to be kept up to date with the latest information. I know we mentioned water shoes in our last update, but we'll mention it again. Please bring water shoes for the canoe races. This is not a bare-foot friendly beach. They are pretty cheap at Wal-Mart ($10 or so) but they will save your feet! Also, please bring sunscreen and water, as this is a desert and people get burned and dehydrated really quickly. The banquet tickets are listed as being "blue" in color in the program. However, they will actually be the PINK tickets that will be in your registration boxes. If all else fails, they should be the last tickets you use. The other colors for the other days as listed in the program will stand. The National Park Service will be onsite at Boulder Beach, Lake Mead, the day of the canoe races. There will be no alcohol allowed at the beach. If you are caught with alcohol you may be asked to leave. Don't say we didn't warn you! The night of the banquet, the Evander Holyfield vs. Francois Botha fight will be taking place in the venue next door to our banquet. We are recommending that the banquet attendees either come early to find parking in the black lot of the Thomas & Mack, or park at the engineering parking garage off of Maryland Parkway and walk over to the Cox Pavilion in order to be able to get in and out without hassle. I wouldn't recommend making this walk in heels, however, so please plan accordingly (ladies, bring some flip flops in your purse). The dress code for the banquet is minimum business casual, maximum prom queen. Plan accordingly. Be sure to check your registration time on the website: Registration Page. Make sure you bring enough people with you to carry the stuff we're going to give you, but not everyone has to attend the registration. Be sure to bring ALL of the signed waivers for each of your participants, those can be found on the same registration page, under "Mailer III" called "UNLV Release Agreement". Whomever you're sending to register for your school needs to bring all of these waivers signed, and if possible, in alphabetical order BY FIRST NAME. Your registration will go much more quickly this way. The Scavenger Hunt will require whomever is on your school's team to have a camera. There will be no videos this year, but there will be pictures that will be required to be taken. All bridges and canoes must be dropped off at the same time for the aesthetics judging at the North Field on Thursday. Please refer to the "Canoe Memorandum" on the "maps and directions" section of the website for the path. Please note your schools's registration time (listed on the Registration Page) and make sure that you are able to show up at the Great Hall in the UNLV Engineering Building (TBE). If you are running late please make sure you call/text Dee at 702-205-5005. Either leave a message or be sure to note your schools name in the body of the text so that I know who is calling. Only 3 days to go! Please have a safe drive/flight! UNLV and NAU are really looking forward to this week! We hope you all are as well! Weekly Update Part II Apr 03 at 8:35 pm We encourage everyone to pack a set of water shoes for the canoe races at Lake Mead. They call it "boulder" beach for a reason ... i.e., it is full of rocks! It would be best if all canoe team members wear water shoes when in the water. The National Park Service is requiring all vehicles traveling to Lake Mead to pay a $5 fee per vehicle before entering the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Be sure to bring plenty of sun block! Please remind your mystery event team to bring their music mix on a CD since we will be playing each mix through a CD player. The numbering and layout for bridge and canoe displays are shown in the PSWRC Final Maps file, found on the Directions & Maps page; however, we will be marking the grass with each team's number and the letters C or B (C for canoe and B for bridge) as well. Please bring everyone's signed liability waiver with you during your assigned registration period. If you can take some time during the 4-5 hour road/plane trip to alphabetize the waivers according to their first name, then the time it takes for your to complete your registration period will be significantly less. If your school is bringing a significant amount of students, please bring someone with you that is able to carry all your shirts. Schools with 60-100 students have quite a heavy "bag-o-shirts" to carry back with them to their car. Please refer to the table below for your scheduled registration period. This table is also on the registration page. We will have our cell phones just in case you have to contact us due to difficulties on the road that would cause you to be late.
Schedule Update Apr 03 at 2:45 pm Our Event Schedule has been updated once again. Make sure you look through it prior to PSWRC to see which events have been affected. Only a few days to go! Maps, Schedule, and Canoe Memorandum Apr 02 at 11:15 am We've added our latest Event Schedule Overview to our website. No drastic changes, though it's worth checking out. We've also added a Canoe Memorandum to both the Event Documents page and the Directions & Maps page. This document includes important information regarding drop off/pick up, ordering, directions, and times. Please take a careful look and plan accordingly. Maps for the entire PSWRC and Bridge delivery have been posted under our Directions & Maps page. Don't forget to keep checking this website for any last minute updates; see you at PSWRC!
