Frequently Asked Questions We will feature some of the most frequently asked questions here to help inform you about UNLV's PSWRC. If your question is not featured here or if you need some further clarification, please email us at pswrc2010@gmail.com. Jump to Page: 1 2 3 4 5 .. Q: Are you going to provide the materials for the construction of the wall at the geotechnical competition A: Items 7 and 8 on page five of the GeoChallenge rules state which items will be provided by us and which materials you and your team must furnish. Q: Are we allowed to use an automatic level? A: No, you won't be able to use the automatic level since this would give you an advantage against schools that don't have this kind of equipment. We will be inspecting equipment to make sure that they fall within our specifications. Q: Are we allowed to use digital theodolite for the surveying competition? A: You are not allowed to use digital/electronic equipment. You could say we're going "old school". Q: Are there any more specific rules for the surveying competition? Previous conferences have provided practice material in order to prepare. A: We suggest having your team practice their accuracy on level loops, angle measurements, pacing distances, and note taking skills. Not providing a course prior to the event will allow for teams to enter the competition on a level playing ground Q: For the environmental competition, are the chemicals that the primary contaminate grew off of also considered contaminates, and should we identify and/or treat for them? A: Yes, you should also identify and/or treat the primary contaminate. Jump to Page: 1 2 3 4 5 .. |
